New star players, revamped teams, and game-changing rule updates are going to make Season 4 the most thrilling yet. You won’t want to miss a single heart-pounding moment.


Last season ended with a bang as Egypt's Al Ahly beat Senegal's AS Douanes, 80-65, and this year is guaranteed to be full of more excitement. New playoff brackets and tournament structures will make the postseason even more unpredictable. The action kicks off on 9 March 2024, right here in South Africa, so start planning your watch parties now. The BAL is poised to dominate the sporting world once again, and you’ll have a front row seat for every slam dunk, buzzer beater, and Cinderella story. Get hyped—the BAL is back, baby!


Season 4 of the BAL is expanding to four countries across Africa for an epic 48 games. This season is going to be absolutely massive. With the addition of the Kalahari Conference, for the first time, 12 teams will be split into three conferences. With the Kalahari Conference kicking off the action in March, featuring the BAL’s inaugural games in South Africa. Local fans will finally get a chance to experience the thrill of the BAL in person. The season will then continue with the Nile Conference in Egypt from 19-27 April and the Sahara Conference in Senegal from 4-12 May. The top teams from each conference will then head to Rwanda for the single-elimination playoffs and finals from 24 May - 1 June.


The inaugural Kalahari Conference tips off first 9 March in Pretoria, marking the BAL’s first foray into the country. With the Cape Town Tigers making their third appearance in the BAL, be sure to come out and support as they represent South Africa. April brings the Nile Conference in Egypt, where basketball fever has been rising steadily over the BAL’s first three seasons. The Sahara Conference follows in May, hosted in Senegal, and then it’s off to Rwanda for the single-elimination playoffs and finals. Talk about a dream itinerary!


48 games will be played this season, the most in BAL history. That’s 12 games in each conference and an additional 8 playoff games. Hoopheads rejoice — we’ll be able to enjoy BAL action nearly every week for four months straight! Each team faces their conference opponents twice, so get ready for intense rivalries and rematches.
